Pocket Pod - Product Guide

Pocket Pod - Product Guide

The Pocket Pod isn't your typical Spartan product. The idea came from a simple observation in Germany, where shooting from high seats often means resting a rifle on wooden rails or whatever support is available. Rather than designing another conventional bipod, we wanted to create something small, simple and practical for those improvised shooting positions. The result is a pocket-sized silicone rest that brings a little more stability to the places hunters already use.

Pocket Pod Product Guide

Overview

The Spartan Pocket Pod is a compact, lightweight shooting support designed for use on raised and improvised shooting platforms. Unlike traditional Spartan bipods, the Pocket Pod was developed specifically for situations where a conventional bipod isn't always practical.

The idea originated from high-seat hunting in Germany, where hunters frequently use wooden rails and other existing structures to support their rifles. Constructed from durable, high-grip silicone, the Pocket Pod provides a stable, protective contact point between the rifle and a variety of surfaces.

Featuring Spartan's MagnaSwitch™ attachment system, the Pocket Pod can be attached or detached in seconds and is small enough to carry in your pocket when not in use.

Attaching the Pocket Pod

The Pocket Pod uses Spartan's MagnaSwitch™ magnetic attachment system and is compatible with Spartan Classic rifle adapters.

To attach the Pocket Pod, align its magnetic spigot with the adapter installed on your rifle. Guide the spigot into the adapter until the magnetic connection engages and the Pocket Pod is correctly seated.

Once attached, the Pocket Pod is ready for use without any additional adjustments or deployment.

To remove it, simply pull the Pocket Pod away from the rifle adapter.

Note: The Pocket Pod requires a compatible Spartan rifle adapter, which is sold separately.

Shooting from Improvised Positions and Surfaces

Originally conceived for high-seat and tree stand shooting, the Pocket Pod is designed to provide a stable rifle rest across a wide range of improvised shooting positions, including fences, gates, wooden posts, fallen logs, branches and vehicle bonnets.

Its durable, high-grip silicone construction helps accommodate uneven surfaces, providing a secure, protective contact point between the rifle and the supporting structure. This makes it particularly useful when shooting from raised platforms or natural features where deploying a conventional bipod may be impractical.

The Pocket Pod's compact design allows hunters to make use of existing terrain and structures without carrying additional shooting equipment. Always ensure the chosen surface is stable and suitable for supporting the rifle.

360° Free-Rotating Traverse

Unlike Spartan's traditional Javelin bipod heads, the Pocket Pod does not feature a steel locating pin that restricts traverse movement within the rifle adapter.

Instead, the Pocket Pod features 360° unrestricted traverse, allowing it to rotate freely around the magnetic spigot connection.

This allows the rifle to be repositioned horizontally while the Pocket Pod remains in contact with the supporting surface, without needing to lift and reposition the support.

This feature is particularly useful when shooting from high seats, tree stands and other confined positions where movement may be restricted.

Prone Shooting Compatibility

The Pocket Pod is not primarily designed for prone shooting. For this application, we would recommend one of our Javelin bipods, which offer greater ground clearance and a more suitable shooting platform.

Due to its compact height and fixed silicone body, the Pocket Pod can be difficult to use when shooting directly from the ground.

Its main advantage is providing a quick and convenient shooting rest on raised surfaces, including high seats, fences, gates and other improvised shooting platforms.

Changing the Spigot for Blaser Adapter Compatibility

The Pocket Pod can be adapted for use with compatible Blaser rifle adapters by replacing the standard MagnaSwitch™ spigot with a 12.5 mm Blaser-compatible bipod spigot.

The original spigot is secured into the Pocket Pod using Loctite thread-locking compound. This must first be softened before the spigot can be removed.

Step 1 – Softening the Loctite

Boil a kettle of water and carefully pour it into a suitable heat-resistant container.

Place the Pocket Pod into the hot water, ensuring the threaded spigot connection is submerged. Allow the assembly to warm for approximately 4–5 minutes to help soften the Loctite securing the spigot.

Take care when handling hot water and components. Do not apply direct flame or concentrated heat to the silicone body.

Step 2 – Removing the Original Spigot

Once the thread-locking compound has softened, carefully remove the Pocket Pod from the water using suitable heat protection.

Support the silicone body and unscrew the original MagnaSwitch™ spigot by turning it anti-clockwise.

If necessary, use a suitable spanner on the spigot's machined flats to help loosen the connection.

Avoid applying excessive force, as this may damage the threaded connection or silicone body.

Step 3 – Installing the 12.5 mm Blaser Spigot

Once the original spigot has been removed, allow the components to cool and clean any remaining Loctite residue from the threads.

Take the replacement 12.5 mm Blaser bipod spigot and carefully thread it clockwise into the Pocket Pod, ensuring it engages smoothly.

Secure the replacement spigot using Spartan's recommended thread-locking compound and tightening specification.

Do not overtighten the spigot.
